As a city dweller, I have a love of street art. Years ago, I came across the Street Anatomy blog, and my mind was blown by the creativity. Street Anatomy seems to have gone quiet, but you can access all of the goodness via the website as well as other social media outlets. Click on the link for info.
How about edible anatomy art? Look no further than Candy Anatomy on Instagram.
The folks at Artery Ink make some lovely products as well. Their coloring book is beautiful. That said, I would not recommend it as an A&P learning tool, but if you enjoying engaging in coloring and like A&P, this may be for you. 🙂
If you enjoy A&P and are interested in health care, make sure to spend a couple of hours at the International Museum of Surgical Sciences downtown. It's a lovely little museum, and they have student admission pricing. Check for exhibits of interest. One year they hosted an exhibit of art done by individuals who had been diagnosed with and treated for head and neck cancer (FLUX). I was able to bring several of our students for a tour, which was a lovely intertwining of our A&P and counseling courses. If you are interested, here are some pictures from our visit.
“Graphic medicine” as defined by Dr. Ian Williams is “the intersection between the medium of comics and the discourse of healthcare”. In other words, it’s using comics and other images as a medium for talking about healthcare. If this sounds interesting to you, you may want to check out Graphic Medicine.
